Proposed Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law (Temporary Order) (Amendment), 5765–2005

The proposed bill amends the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law (Temporary Order). The bill is portrayed as a softer version of the temporary order, one that enables in certain cases the family unification of Israeli citizens and residents with their spouses from the Occupied Territories. In effect, the bill contains a number of provisions that will significantly reduce the exceptions to obtaining a status in Israel that are available pursuant to the temporary order in its current form. The bill is, therefore, a sham and an attempt to preserve an unconstitutional statute.
