A father and his son who were detained in the Gaza Strip died while in military custody; their family only discovered this after petitioning the High Court of Justice.

Munir and Yassin al-Faqaawi were arrested last March during the Israeli raid on Khan Younis. Their relatives tried for many months to find out where they were being held, but the army responded that it had no information about their whereabouts. The Military Police Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the circumstances of their deaths. The High Court of Justice rejected the family’s petition and rebuked the army over its conduct.
