CC (Jerusalem) 20330/95 - ‘Amru v. Israel Police
Claim filed by HaMoked due to the false imprisonment of a Palestinian resident of the Hebron district and the confiscation of his ID card. The Plaintiff and his wife, a resident of Jerusalem, were in the midst of the family unification process at the time, therefore, the Plaintiff possessed a permit allowing him to work and remain inside Israel. The Plaintiff was detained by police officers who claimed he was in Jerusalem illegally despite the fact that he presented them with the permit. He was held in detention without being interrogated and was forced to work in the facility. He was released the following day. Only the attachment to the ID card was returned to him, but the card itself was not. Despite his appeals to the police, the card was returned only when HaMoked intervened. The claim was settled and the State paid NIS 8,000.
