Following the HCJ’s approval: the military punitively demolished two housing units in Jabal al Mukabber in East Jerusalem

On January 4, 2016, the military demolished two homes in Jabal al Mukabber in East Jerusalem, in which lived the families of two assailants who each perpetrated an attack in Jerusalem on October 13, 2015: one on Bus 78 in the Armon HaNatziv, the other on Malkhei Yisrael St. The demolitions were carried out following their approval by the High Court of Justice (HCJ) on December 22, 2015.

The apartment of the family of the perpetrator of the Malkhei Yisrael St. attack – located on the ground floor of the family’s three-floor building – was filled entirely with concrete. The other apartment, located on the second floor of a three-storey building, was demolished by destruction of its outer and inner block walls, leaving just the support beams and columns. Some damage was caused to the ground floor apartment by the dropping of outer wall blocks. Additional damage was caused to the building’s drain and sewage pipes.
