Following the recent resignation of the Israel Minister of Interior, HaMoked contacted the Prime Minister on December 23, 2015, to request the suspension of the
proceedings for the revocation of the permanent residency status of four East Jerusalem residents, suspects in attacks against Israelis, pending the appointment of a new Minister of Interior. The proceedings were launched by the previous minister on October 14, 2015.
HaMoked maintains that as these proceedings are already underway, and the
Supreme Court has already been approached on the matter, all ministerial action in these four cases must be suspended until a new permanent Minister of Interior is appointed. HaMoked clarified that these are “cardinal proceedings with far-reaching implications – both for the future of our clients and for all residents of East Jerusalem” and therefore they require serious consideration and meticulous handling of a permanent cabinet minister.
