In response to HaMoked’s objection against the intent to seize and demolish the home of a suspect in an attack against Israelis: The military announced it does not intend to demolish the entire structure, only half

Yesterday, at about 8:00 PM, HaMoked received the military’s response to an objection it filed against the intent to demolish the ‘Awwad residence in Idhna. The response stated that given the information and arguments raised in the objection, the military has changed its position and now intends to destroy only the part of the structure that was occupied by the suspected assailant and his nuclear family.

HaMoked believes the military’s plan is unrealistic, given the many cases of massive and severe collateral damage caused during house demolitions in the past. It is difficult to see how destroying half the building would not cause damage to the other half, and more.

The response also noted that the demolition would take place on Monday at noon.

HaMoked intends to file an urgent petition to the High Court of Justice on Monday morning.
