Procedure for Processing Applications for Israeli Residency Visas for Minors Born Outside Israel with Only One Parent Registered as a Permanent Resident of Israel
Other | 19.5.2014

The Ministry of Interior's procedure for processing applications for Israeli residency for minors born outside of Israel, with only one parent who is a permanent resident of Israel. The procedure states that requests to register children, submitted before the completion of two years of "center of life" in Israel, will not be rejected out of hand, but will remain pending until the family has lived in Israel for two years and proven as much - when the request will be approved or rejected. This means that a child's status will be determined according to his age at the time of submitting the request, and not at the time his family has successfully proven two years of "center of life". However, the new procedure clearly states that the policy only applies to requests submitted after September 1, 2013.

Following a protracted legal battle: the Ministry of Interior amended the procedure for handling registration applications of children who have only one Israeli-resident parent
Following appeals to the Ministry of Interior to reconsider child registration applications under the amended procedure: Five children from East Jerusalem recently received status in Israel (02) 627 1698   (02) 627 6317
