AP 29551-02/10 HaMoked: Center for the Defence of the Individual v. Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories et al. Petition under the Freedom of Information Act

Petition by HaMoked, according to the Freedom of Information law, to instruct the state to respond to questions submitted to it over eight months previously, regarding the expulsion of residents of the West Bank to the Gaza Strip due to out of date information in the Israeli population registry. HaMoked emphasizes that, because the policy of expelling residents of the West Bank to Gaza applies to 1.5 million Palestinians, the state must provide it with the requested information. Ignoring HaMoked's request for such a long period is illegal and harms the public's right to know and to be provided with information from a state authority.

Information provided by COGAT to HaMoked indicates that some 35,000 Palestinians who live in the West Bank were labeled by Israel as "illegal aliens" liable for expulsion, because their registered address is in Gaza
