HCJ 769/02 - The Public Committee against Torture in Israel et al. v. Government of Israel et al. Petition for Order Nisi and Interim Order

Petition against the assassination practice adopted by Israel as official policy in the beginning of the second intifada. The petition claims that the assassination of a person while he poses no immediate danger to another person is tantamount to extra-judicial execution and actually fits the criteria for murder. These actions are not subject to judicial review, even in retrospect, since the military does not publicize any evidence of the targets' alleged involvement in planning the violent actions supposedly thwarted by the assassination. This is a patently illegal policy which contradicts Israeli law, international law and basic principles of human morality. From the website of the Public Committee against Torture in Israel
