Following media reports indicating that the army is investigating its use of phosphorus shells during the fighting in the Gaza Strip: HaMoked appealed to the Military Advocate General requesting to learn who is in charge of the investigation and when it is scheduled to conclude, as well as to receive a copy of the findings

On 14 January 2009, HaMoked, along with other human rights organizations, appealed to the Prime Minister, the Defense Minister and the Attorney General, demanding an immediate halt to the use of all means of warfare prohibited by international humanitarian law, including phosphorus shells and cluster bombs.

According to various media reports, the army admits that it used phosphorus shells during the fighting in the Gaza Strip. Reports stated that following the shelling of a residential neighborhood with phosphorus, the matter will be investigated by a special team appointed by the GOC Southern Command and the Military Advocate General.

HaMoked demands full transparency regarding the investigation which, according to reports, is currently being conducted, and requests that the army forward its conclusions to the organization.
