COGAT's response to HaMoked's freedom-of-Information application re. permits of stay in the West Bank

Response by the Spokesperson for the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories to HaMoked's application under the Freedom of Information Act, concerning temporary permits for the West Bank. The response states, inter alia, that the permits were designed for Palestinians whose registered address is in the Gaza Strip but who are present in the West Bank; the permits were first granted in December 2007; 68 permits were issued prior to the date of the response. The military clarifies that no change was made to military legislation, and details the procedure for granting the said permit. It is possible to surmise, from the response, that Israeli citizens and residents wishing to stay in the West Bank do not need such a permit.
